Meet Michelle

I am registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I have been working in mental health since 2003 and providing Clinical Counselling for the last 11 years.

I began working in the correctional realm after I obtained my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology at MacEwan University. I initially started working with persons released from Federal Institutions, assisting in their rehabilitation back into the community to working as a Probation Officer. I came from an approach of non-judgment and sought to truly understand their stories where I became further acquainted with the impacts of trauma and addiction.

I then completed my Masters of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology at Trinity Western University, where I specialized in trauma counselling. I had the privilege of training from one of the founders of Observed and Experiential Integration: OEI, which is a specialized treatment for processing difficult and traumatic events. I also trained in Lifespan Integration Therapy which is a helpful treatment for early life traumas.

Once back in Alberta, I continued to pursue further professional trainings such as: Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Ego States Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Brainspotting and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).

My past experiences and professional trainings have informed my focus of specializing in the treatment of trauma. Whether it be recent, experienced in childhood, job related or any other trauma/abuse that has occurred throughout life. I also work with adult clients who are going through depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, family of origin issues, life transitions and grief and loss.

Many of my clients are from the First Responder’s community (i.e., Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces Military Members, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Edmonton Police Service Officers, Correctional Officers, Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Service Professionals (EMS) and nurses).

When I am not in office, I savour spending time in nature or with my loved ones. I am often exploring trails, lakes and rivers with my four-legged office companion or exploring many of the mountain peaks in our beautiful back yard. I find balance when connecting with others, myself and the world around me. Just as it is my pleasure to help clients find the connections they need to live a fulfilled and balanced life.

My therapeutic approach is integrative drawing from several different modalities I am trained in such as:

  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

  • Attachment Based Therapy

  • Brainspotting

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy

  • Ego State Therapy

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Gottman Method (Level 1)

  • Lifespan Integration Therapy

  • Mindfulness

  • Solutions Focused Therapy
