Meet Michelle
I am registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I've been working in mental health since 2003 and providing Clinical Counselling since 2013.
Early in my career I worked in corrections and community reintegration sector, where I worked with persons released from Federal Institutions and then as a Probation Officer. Those experiences shaped my trauma-informed, non-judgmental approach and deepened my understanding of the complex relationships between trauma, addiction and rehabilitation.
I completed a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology at Trinity Western University with a focus on trauma counselling and received specialized training in Observed and Experiential Integration (OEI) and Lifespan Integration. I have also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Ego States Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Brainspotting and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
My clinical training and practice have led me to specialize in trauma treatment — whether recent, childhood, work-related, or other forms of abuse or adversity experienced across the lifespan. I also support adults dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship and family-of-origin issues, life transitions, grief and loss.
Many of my clients are from the First Responder’s community (i.e., Veterans, Canadian Armed Forces Military Members, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Edmonton Police Service Officers, Correctional Officers, Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical Service Professionals (EMS) and nurses).
When I am not in office, I savour spending time in nature or with my loved ones.
You’ll often find me on trails, beside lakes and rivers with my four‑legged office companion or climbing mountain peaks in our beautiful back yard.
I find balance when connecting with others, myself and the world around me. Just as it is my pleasure to help clients find the connections they need to live a fulfilled and balanced life.
